Black Belt Grading Tomorrow/Why Wolverine?/Training

Hello Everyone

Back for a new blog. Well tomoorow(Saturday June 20th) is the black belt grading. We got 8 students going for temporary blacks and 1st degree blacks. Grading will start at 9am and will run til 7pm. So basically 10 hours. And that’s 10 hours will very little breaks. I don’t believe in 2 or 3 hour black belt gradings. You have so much requirements to go through. You also have  to see how bad they really want to be black belts and whether or not they have become black belts. I am still thinking whether or not if I am going to write a short blog tomorrow during one of their breaks to describe how they are doing and then one at the end of the day. We shall see if i got the time.

Okay next. Most people probably why I got the nickname “Wolverine”. Well there is many different reasons. I started using Wolverine back in July 2007 when I started Team Wolverine for the 2007 US OPEN. Wolverine is an animal in Canada that I most relate to. They are very strong and powerful for their small size. Just like me. Other characteristics that they and I posess are intelligence, perseverance, integrity, and curage. A wolverine will fight to the end before they will ever give up. They simply won’t give up. I think that describes me pretty well. I don’t care how much someone tries to knock me down and keep me there. I will get up swinging.

Too much in life people simply give up because it is hard or too difficult for them.  So what! Just because something is hard doesn’t mean it is impossible. The hardest things in life have all been done by humans. The only way you can’t do something is if you say you can’t. If you beleive you can do it even though it will be hard, you will persevere. Failure is not the end of the line. It is a start of a new journey. Get up off the ground, dust yourself off, and move forward. If not, life will keep you down.

I will quote Rocky Balboa here for a second. “It’s not hard hard you hit, but rather how hard you can get hit and get pushing forward.” Remember you are not judged by your failure but rather judges on how you deal with failure. If a Wolverine dies in a battle against a Grizzly Bear, no will will ever say that the wolverine was a wuss or anything like that. What you will hear is people saying how hard that wolverine fought for it’s life and how it never gave up. Wolverines should inspire us all to fight for what we believe in and take control of our lives. No more shall anyone else be responsible for the outcomes of our lives. Long live the Wolverine.

I just want to finish today’s blog with a quick note on our training for the US OPEN and ISKA World Championships. Everyone seems to be ready. We are all healthy with no injuries or health issues. We have final practice tonight as a team and a few individual practices left. I truly believe we will fare pretty well down in Orlando florida on July 3rd and 4th.
