Hello Everyone
What a busy past four days I have had. So so busy and tiring. So tiring that I want to write this blog as fast as I can and go have a nap. But my first priority is to let you all know what happened. First our plane trip down was excellent. Never been on a smoother plane. Check in at Walt Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando Florida was the same as usual. We got everyone to pick up their repregistration with no problem. I had a good business meeting as well on that Thursday night(July 2nd).
Friday morning(July 3rd) we all had to be at the competition area for 7AM for registration, rule meeting, and picking up the breaking material. First up was the ISKA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS for Power Wood kicking. I got 3rd place at the worlds. Last year I was just a competitor at worlds, now I am a contender for the title.
The rest of the day various US OPEN level breaking continue with various breaking events as well as other events like forms, sparring, jiujitus, and etc,. We were there from 7AM til 11PM that day standing around on the concrete floor waiting for our various events to happen. This is to be expected as the US OPEN and ISKA Worlds is the largest tournament in the world for martial arts. If you haven’t really experienced martial arts torunaments until you competed against the best in the world at the US OPEN.
So tons of stuff happened and I and the rest of Team Wolverine with let you know when you see us but here are the reasults for us.
Master Jonathan Field “Wolverine” – US OPEN level. 1st place in creative breaking, 3rd place in power wood elbow, 5th place in power wood hand, and 3rd place in power wood kicking. ISKA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS. 3rd place in Power Wood Kicking.
Master Gayle Richards – US OPEN Level. 2nd place creative breaking, 4th place power wood elbow, 5th place in power wood kicking.
Charlotte Kerr – US OPEN Level. 1st place high jump board breaking, 2nd place creative breaking, 3rd place power wood hand, and 2nd place power wood elbow. My lil’ champion.
Scott Allen – US OPEN Level. 2nd place creative breaking, 3rd place power wood hand, 3rd place power wood elbow, and 5th place traditional forms.
I also got to hang out and chat with several World Champions like Chip Townsend, Drew Serrano, Larry Fields, Fernardo Camerano, Elton Trower, Karen Smith, Ben Parra, and several others. Most agree that I might very well be the next power wood kicking world champion if I stick with it.
Well I am tired of writing. Back to training full force tomorrow for next year’s competition. No rest for me.
Master Jonathan Field
