Self Analyzing of 2005 International Championship

Hello Everyone

Today’s blog I am going to analyze what I could have done better in my Pattern that I use to win the 2005 International Taekwondo Championships held in Ontario Canada back in 2005. So view the video first and then I will tell what I should have done better.

First off I could have put a little more extension in my side kicks and held them out in the air for a split second longer.

Second, the front kicks could have been slightly straighter at the top of the kick. A little more snap/thrust as well.

Third, I could have snapped my chambers a little more.

Fourth, the top of the pattern I would have put a little power behind some of the moves.

Fifth, coming back I could have put more snap and power in the lower knifehand strikes.

The stances were all clean and big and wide. Hand positions were where they were suppose to be. This Koryo is better than most I have seen at different tournaments. It is my favorite Black Belt Pattern. I now do the pattern so much better as I do what I mentioned above that I needed to work on.

Take a look at the video below and you can see the huge different in my pattern.

So I hope everyone can self analyze what they need to do. If you are not sure, do not be afraid to ask your instructor for help. That is what we are here for.
