Hello Everyone
I got two topics to discuss today in today’s blog. First off, it is day 3 of the March Break Camp here at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do. We have had the students/campers do various activities that include blocking drills, punching and kicking on paddles, bags, and in the air, balance exercises on the balance beam, Sir/Ma’am says, and various other drills that make learning martial arts fun. The campers seem to be having lots of fun. They will walk away from this camp with new skills, improved old skills, and some new friends.
The next topic I want to talk about is the four areas of a good training program for fitness and athleticism The four parts are flexibility, mobility, strength, and endurance. These four qualities are all things one should be thinking about improving while they are training or planning for their training. First flexibility in the muscles is very important. Flexible and stretched muscles are less like to get injured, allow you to move around more freely, and can increase your overall strength and power. You should be stretching quite regularly with stretching routines and other forms of exercise like yoga or stretching classes.
Secondly, you should be training your mobility in your joints. The ability to freely move your joints in any direction without tightness or with strain is very important for a long life of healthy joints. This allows you to perform everyday activities and jobs with ease. Above average range of mobility in your joints can also improve your athletic skills and decrease the chances of getting hurt. Learn some joint mobility exercises that you can do at home to have increase your range of motion and feel the different in the quality of your life.
The third area is strength. This is the ability to life up a load or weight with ease. It is improve to have the strength and power to do everyday activities as well as other physical things like sports. You can increase your strength through weightlifting with free weights and machines, using kettlebells, doing bodyweight exercises, performing plyometric exercises, and various other things. You can een go to various classes that offer conditioning. Martial Arts is excellent as well. Try to find ways to train your strength as least 3 times a week.
The last one is endurance. Endurance is the ability of your body to perform a specific thing over a specific period of time. You can have anaerobic and aerobic endurance. Anaerobic is the muscle endurance which means how long your muscles can perform a specific action over a set period of time. Aerobic endurance involved the heart and lungs. How long can the heart and lungs provide the body with enough oxygen in the blood to perform at a high capacity of performance in a specific period of time. This is important to your overall health because everyone needs a healthy strong heart and good set of lungs to increase the longevity of their lives. You can perform various cardio and strength exercises and activities that can improve this area of your training.
So I want everyone to think how they are using all four areas in their training regimens.
Hope you enjoyed today’s blog.
