11 Year Old Girl Breaks Concrete/Student trains with broken foot

Hello Everyone

Just a quick blog here today. Got a few things to mention so let’s get started.

#1 – This past Saturday here at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do, we had our first ever junior/& female break some concrete with her bare foot. Mikaela Lavoy age 11 broke a concrete scallop block with a heel stomp outside in the parking lot.  Mikaela is a 1 time US OPEN creative wood breaking champion and plans on entering creative open breaking next year. This involves breaking wood, concrete, and many other materials with various breaking techniques. Good job Mikaela. We are all proud of you.

#2 – Evan Sokay, a orange belt here at the dojang broke his ankle while attending a local summer camp. He was put into a walking cast and was out of training for a few short weeks before continuing his taekwondo training. He still had his walking cast on while attending forms and kicking classes at Taekwondo. He never complained about the challenges that he was facing. He did his best no matter what. This goes to show you that you can still train with injuries. Yes it may be difficult at first but you can overcome the challenges. Way to go Evan for setting a positive example for others to follow.

#3 – It is less then 6 days and I am off to train with Master Chip Townsend in Abilene Texas for a week. This is going to be an excellent learning experience for us all. I can’t wait to get there. I will be posting blogs from Texas on how everything is going. Normal classes will be running as I have various instructors teaching them. So no excuses for not attending classes. The week I am gone should prove to be lots of fun and interesting at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do. I promise you that the instructors in charge will make it worth your wild.

Take care for now.
