Hello Everyone
Here’s the final blog for 2010. Basically I just want to remind you all what Cobourg Tae Kwon Do’s instructors, students, and Team Wolverine have accomplished.
January 2010
– Team Wolverine started training every Saturday for competition
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
March 2010
– Had another successful March Break Day Camp
– Established our Relay for Life team
– I had surgery and was training less then 48 hours after(rest for one week my butt, the doc’s don’t know me very well do they, LOL)
– Team Wolverine held a Sunday dinner fundraiser
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
April 2010
– Our cobourgtaekwondo.ca website got redesigned,
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
May 2010
– I helped out at Grandmaster Veronica DeSantos Power Weekend where she tests her students for various degrees of Black Belt
– I got my 2nd ever magazine article published in Agatsu magazine
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
June 2010
– Did a photo shoot with Team Wolverine and some of the higher Black Belts with photographer Gerri Weatherbee
– Team Cobourg Tae Kwon Do took part in the 2010 Relay for Life and raised over $3000
– Started handing out Belt requirement DVD’s at colour belt gradings
– held the annual Black Belt grading and the ceremony a week after the grading and presented the students with one 3rd degree Black, three 2nd degree Blacks, two 1st degree Blacks, and eight Black Belts
– Team Wolverine held a sunday dinner/bake sale fundraiser
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
July 2010
– Team Wolverine competed at the 2010 US OPEN and ISKA World Championships and won 11 US OPEN Championships, 6 2nd places, 7 3rd places, 4 4th places, 1 5th place, 1 6th place, 1 7th place, 1 15th place, 4th place at ISKA World Championships, and 2 USBA/WBA World Championships(Master Jonathan)
– Held the July Summer Camp
– Had an article in the newspaper for our results at the US OPEn
– One of our students who wrote for the newspaper wrote a nice article why he studies martial arts
– Got my 3rd magazine article published in Agatsu magazine
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
August 2010
– Received my official USBA/WBA membership package
– Held the August Summer Camp
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
September 2010
– Mikaela Lavoy, one of our 11 year old Black Belts breaks concrete for the first time
– Went to Abilene Texas for a week and trained with 14 Time ISKA World Champion Master Chip Townsend at his Taekwondo school. Also went to a Taekwondo campout for a few days while in Texas.
– A few students and myself competed at the Canadian National Golden Belt Karate Championships in Scarborough and brought home 5 1st places, 5 2nd places, 2 3rd places, 2 4th places.
– Taught at the Camborne Public School about Korean culture and Taekwondo
– Held a Black Belt meeting to talk about ways to improve our school
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
Ocotober 2010
– I spent the day with only one eye as a challenge to learn compassion for others with disabilities and learn how they see and deal with everyday life
– Competed at the Connecticut State Championships and won 1st Place, 2 2nd places, and a 3rd place
– We did a 2 hour class at the Salvation Army for the boys group.
– Held Kicks for Candy at the dojang and raised 77lbs of Candy and doanted it to the Salvation army as well as 4 boxes of food.
– Held parent night here at the dojang
– Started a special needs class
– Master Jonathan(me) successfully tested for 4th Dan from Kukkiwon, Master Joyce successfully tested for 4th Dan Kukkiwon, and Youusoufou Sidibe successfully tested for 3rd Dan Kukkiwon.
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
November 2010
– Taught a free self defense class at the county building
– Held buddy day here at the dojang
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
December 2010
– Held a free self defense clinic for women only here at the dojang
– Did a photo shoot with Jillian Bickle Photography.
– Held Annual Black Belt grading meeting and Team Wolverine Meeting
– Successfully graded various students for various ranks
I think that is it. We have also grown as we keep growing each passing year. I believe 2011 will be a great year. Can’t wait!!! 🙂
