Today’s blog is on this week’s word of the week. And that word is HONESTY.
Honesty is all about telling the truth, not lying, not hiding anything, or cheating. We all know that. It is hard for everyone to follow all of this all the time. No one is perfect. But we all could striver to be more honest in our daily lives.
I like to think that there is two main parts to honesty. Part one is simply being honest with everyone you come in contact with. Just be truthful to all situations you come across. The second part of honesty is simply being honest with yourself. Meaning telling yourself the truth about who you are and what you do. Self realization is very powerful and most people do not want to accept who they are sometimes. One should never tell lies to themselves because eventually you might start believing though lies. In Taekwondo training you need to be completely honest with yourself. Did you train at that moment the best you could given the situations of that day? Win or lose at competition or not to compete at all doesn’t really matter as the heart of the Taekwondo practioner is in their training. Training should reflect your honesty towards yourself.
I just heard a story about honesty on youtube and I want to tell it to you. There was this crow who was hobbling around on the ground and wasn’t flying. Well the crow saw a bull passing by and said to the bull. “Hi, how are you?’ “I am doing pretty well thanks” said the bull. “How are you?’ “Not too well” spoke the crow. “I cannot seem to fly” “Why that is too bad said the bull “but I can help you fly again” “How so?” asked the crow. “Well you can fly again by eating my poop.” explain the bull. After much thought the crow thought what the heck, I cannot fly anyway and will only die if I don’t try. So the crow ate the bull’s poop for three days. And on the fourth day the crow was able to fly around. Well the crow soon got tired and landed on a fur tree to rest. A farmer came along and saw the crow on his tree and said “There’s one of though blasted crows that keep eating my crops.” So the farmer loaded his shotgun and blew the crow out of the tree and the crow fell to the ground dead. The lesson of the story is you can make it to the top with bull crap but try staying there.
Hope you enjoyed!
