Hello Everyone
Well it’s been a long time since I sat down and wrote a blog. Actually the last blog entry was back in July. Well the reason for that is I have been enjoying my summer, relaxing a little bit, and being inspired by a few people. Let’s get into it shall we?!
Cobourg Tae Kwon Do Team Wolverine did an amazing job at the 2011 US OPEN and ISKA World Martial Arts Championships. We brought home 15 US OPEN Championships, 2 WBA World Titles, 3rd and 4th places at the ISKA World Championships as well as I won the 2011 ISKA Three Directional Power Wood Breaking World Championship in the lightweight division. We got an article in the Northumberland News as well as a picture in snap magazine. We also had a nice victory party in mid August at the Cobourg Memorial Temple AKA The Oddfellows Hall. We had the Mark Hanson Band play for us.
Since I won the ISKA World CHampionship belt I have been recognized more by complete strangers stopping me at stores, on the street, and on the golf courses congratulating me on my win. I even had a lady stop me at Victoria Park on August 14th when I was watching and supporting the triathlons and ask me if I was Jonathan Field and she went on to tell me how she enjoyed reading the articles about my successes in the newspapers. I am always quite shocked when people do that. I feel I haven’t done anything to special. I just do what I love to do and I am lucky I am pretty good at it. But that comes from a lot of hard work that most people do not get to see. That’s where my heart lies. Speaking of the Triathlons on August 14th, we had some of our junior students compete in the strong kids duathlon and placed very well. Congrats to Evan, Emily, and Jesse. Also two of our Fitness Kickboxers did the Give It A Try Triathlon. Sarena Thompson won 1st place and Abby Sue Elder won 2nd place in the women’s 25 to 29 year old division. Way to go everyone. Proud of you. You have inspired a few other members from Cobourg Tae Kwon Do to maybe give it a try.
Okay so i mentioned I was inspired earlier in this blog. Well I have had two different young ladies light a fire underneath me lately. First off, Sarena has become my new sparring partner in the mornings. She pushes and challenges me to get better at my sparring and come up with new things. She was a black belt when I was a white belt believe it or not. Yes even Masters of Taekwondo were white belts at some point. Always remember everyone starts at the same place. Second Mikaela has inspired me to get a whole lot better at nunchakus. I use to be one of the best around with chuks until I got into competitive breaking 5 years ago. I kept telling people that she was gonna surpass me in nunchaku skills. She is my motivation to train hard with the chuks. Mikaela and I have formed a new team separate from Team Wolverine called Team Attitude. We are a chuking team and we are gonna see where we can take it. I am also inspired by all the students that work their butts off while training. They strive to better themselves and their fellow students.
Well I feel since I have not wrote a blog in a while that I should have some words of wisdom to share. Well here they are. “Quiet your mind and listen to your heart. It will guide you. Take time to truly appreciate the small things in life. They will take care of the big things. Life is too short not to seize the moment because once it’s gone you can never get it back.”
Hope you enjoyed this blog. I’ll be back soon with another one.
