The only person you need to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Oh boy is that so true! Too many of us get wrapped up in trying to be better than someone else at something or have better material possessions than they do. We have all been there at least once in our lifetime. Some others are always there. We all know someone like that. It makes you wonder.

But really we do not need to try to be or be better than someone else. What is the point in that? Yes I know when you are playing sports or in some sort of competition you are trying to be better than the other guy. But we are not talking about that but at the same time you should be more concerned with being better than you were and if that better beats someone else then that is a bonus.

What we are talking about here is comparing yourself to someone else and either belittling yourself or the other person. Quite frankly I do not see the need to do either.

What I believe for myself is trying to be better today than I was yesterday. There is so many different areas in our lives that we can improve upon a little each day. Just a little each day can add up to great improvement in a short about of time. Some of the areas that could be worked on daily are learning, health and fitness, relationships, creating new habits, eliminating bad habits, being kinder to others, and so forth.

So don’t waste your time comparing yourself to others and trying to beat them, rather try to beat the yesterday’s who.
