INTERVIEW WITH A STUDENT PART THREE

Hello Everyone

I recently just had a former student from a few years back interview me for a college project she is doing on mentors. So here is part THREE of the interview.

9. How and where do you find inspiration?

I will be inspire by the books and articles I read as well as the people I work with. Most of the time it is a small detail or merely a few words that can inspire me. But it has to be something that is pure from the heart.

10. Why do you do what you do?

That is a question I get asked a lot. The main answer is I really don’t know. I have always been drawn to martial arts for no particular reason. Secondary I believe that I was meant to do it. I was meant to teach and compete. I enjoy all aspects of learning, training, teaching, growing, and inspiring.

11. How do you approach the unknown?

I try to approach the unknown with a calmness and almost a third person view. I try not to get emotionally involved if I can. I want to know as much as I can about the unknown and plan for it as best as I can. Then I just let it happen and adjust my plans according. You have to be quick on your feet and adjust when needed. Things always seem to work out the way they are suppose to so no point in stressing out over it.

12. How do you keep your feelings from clouding your decision-making?

I try to just look at the decisions I have to make and think about what will be of the best interest to everyone that will be involved. I cannot however expect to please everyone with all my decisions. I look at the outcome for the group as a whole and not for certain people.

These are short answers. I could go on and on and go into much further details. Also these answers can change in a short few months based on the learning experiences I go through.
