Word of the Week: OBEDIENCE

This week’s word of the week is OBEDIENCE

Obedience – a sense of duty, fulfilling obligations and following the rules.

You can have a sense of duty towards your school, your martial arts academy, your family, your friends, your country, and etc,. You obey the rules and regulations because you believe in it. You have a sense of loyalty towards the idea of what it is.

Obedience is a need to please. Look at dogs for example. Man’s best friend is very obedient because they have a need to please their owners. Most of the time they have blind obedience. Their owner can treat them good or bad and it doesn’t matter. They stay loyal. Unfortunately for some people it can be the same thing. If treated well having obedience for what you believe in is awesome but treated poorly and having obedience is blind faith.

Obedience is like loyalty and respect. It must be earned through good leadership, respect, passion, compassion, and good faith.
