STYLE VS. STYLE

So what style of martial arts is the best?

Ready for this shocking answer?!

There is no such thing as the best style of martial arts. Every style has their strengths and weaknesses. It’s hard to compare really as some are striking arts and others are grappling arts. Some are olympic sports and others are not. Some styles are recently new and others are thousands of years old.

I think that it is arrogant of any master, teacher, or practitioner of a style to claim that their style is the best. In all out reality if there was such thing as the best style of martial arts than all martial artists would be practicing that one style but they aren’t.

It is even hard to say that one style is better than another. Unless you are a master of two different styles and have the exact same amount of experience in both styles you cannot make a simple statement.

People always want to see style versus style to see which is better. Even if one style beats another style in a fight it still doesn’t prove anything. It’s the practitioner of a style that makes a good martial artists, not the style. You see, most practitioners become consumed with the rules of how their style spars or fights and when face with something different they have difficulty. What one should do is forget your style’s rules and rely on your own unique strategy using the tools of your style.

Style versus style relies on the practitioners in the styles and not the styles themselves.
