Okay we can all be found guilty of this at least once in a while. Doing things out of spite or in spite of. You know you have. The question is not if you have but rather the question should be whether it was one of these two that I am about to explain.
I believe that there is two kinds of doing things in spite of.
#1 is when you are faced with a challenge of some sort and you do something in spite of that. So for example let’s say you have a physical limitation and you want to do something that someone with your limitation cannot do per day. Well you use your determination and perseverance and go ahead and do it anyway. So therefore you achieved something in spite of your limitation because really your limitation was not really a limitation. This is something positive.
#2 is when you do something in spite of what someone else may say, think, or do. This one may be positive or negative depending. A positive example would be that someone did not believe you could achieve something so you did it out of spite. On the other hand if you did something you were not suppose to do just to spite someone else, well that would be a negative. And unfortunately there is a lot of people that will do things just to spite others because they feel it hurts the other person. That’s no good.
So I say if you are going to do something out of spite, do it in a positive way and not to get back at someone or hurt them. Focus on the positive and the real reason why you want to achieve what you want to achieve. That is more important.
