MY PERSONAL HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 2015 US OPEN

Good Morning

Well the 2015 US OPEN, ISKA Worlds, and WBA Worlds has come and gone. Lots of memory made of everything that went on this past weekend.

I just wanted to take a few moments to share some of my personal highlights of the trip and will share the completed team wolverine results when I get all the results in.

1. I won two 2nd places on the US OPEn/WBA side of the competition. Not my best results but I did do a personal best in the high jump division with 22.5 inches over my head. The winner did 28 inches over their head.

2. I won 4th place in Creative Breaking at the ISKA World Championships. First time doing creative there. I always said I could be competitive in that division against the best in the world and I proved that on Saturday. Now it’s time to train to win.

3. Team wolverine won between 21-15 first places at the US OPEN, several WBA World Championships, and many 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th places. I have to say that the black belt divisions were extra competitive this year and our team held their own.

4. As team leader I was able to pick up pretty much everyone’s registration packages instead of waiting in the huge lines. That was a bonus.

5. I was made a VIP team leader so I received a special pass to wear around as well I received two VIP passes to the night of champions. Second row from the stage.

6. I spent a good chunk of Friday judging creative breaking so i got to see lots of really cool breaking routines. Our team had some of the best routines of the day. I really enjoyed judging and officiating. Especially at the largest martial arts tournament in the world.

7. Fellow team wolverine members Mikaela Lavoy, Jimmy Nguyen, and I were selected to perform at the Night of Champions live on ESPN. We performed in a breaking demonstration during Master Serrano’s World Record Baseball Bat breaking Attempt along side some other world class breakers ranging from young children up to breakers in their 60s. It was a huge honour. Many hours of practice throughout the entire weekend results in a great display of talent and skill.

8. I finished the weekend with a dinner with fellow USBA/WBA Directors and World Champion breakers. We shared stories, talked a little business, and share some fantastic Mexican food. It was a good night.

9. Our team were awesome team mates towards each other but also towards other competitors. When anyone outside of the team needed help, our team was there to provide it, Competitive breaking is one of the few sports where competitors will help each other. We want to win because we are better and not for any other reason. We try to bring out the best in each other.

So as soon as I get the completed results I will share it with all of you and as always I will get a video together ASAP.
