DINNER BEFORE DESSERT

Eat your dinner before you have your dessert.

This can be taken a few different ways.

One, make sure you eat all your healthy food before you indulge in delicious desserts.

Two, get your work done before you take your leisure time to relax and do the things you like.

Three, one must work hard and smart before they reap the benefits of success and the rewards that come along with it.

All three are important but the last two are more important if you wish to achieve more and live a more fulfilled life. It takes a lot of hard work, smart, and dedication to be successful in anything you choose to do. But the rewards that await all your efforts feels awesome. You just don’t get physical and material rewards, or new skills. You can a new sense of who you are. You’ll be proud of yourself. Your confidence will be higher. You’ll gain more passion for what you do and for life in general.

These are all the desserts you indulged in after you eat your dinner.

ADULT MESSAGE OF THE WEEK: Begin with the End in Mind

Whatever it is you choose to accomplish you must begin with the end in mind.

What exactly is is you wish to achieve, accomplish, gain, earn, receive, and etc,. ?

You need to have a clear picture of the final outcome. Know all the details.

Once you know this you can plan out to achieve the end.

What are all the steps that are needed to get done?

What needs to get done now and what needs to get done later?

What do you need help with?

You need to plan from the end and work your way back to the starting point.

ADULT AND JUNIOR MESSAGES OF THE WEEK

Good Morning Everyone

I decided to combine the Junior and Adult Message this week into one blog. Back to separate blogs next week.

The Adult Message of the week is; Proactive Vs. Reactive

People will fall into one of two categories or somewhere in between. One is Proactive. Proactive people take responsibility for their lives and make things happen that they want. Reactive people tend to blame others for the situations in their lives and feel they have no control over what is happening. Good news is you have a choice in which way you want to be. The first step is to admit what you are. Second step is to take responsibility for your life and what is going on.

When faced with different challenges and situations Proactive people respond differently than Reactive people. Here is a few examples.

PROACTIVE: I will do it.  REACTIVE: I will try

PROACTIVE: I can do better than that.  REACTIVE: That is just the way I am

PROACTIVE: There’s gotta be a way.  REACTIVE: i can’t.

The Junior Message of the Week is; Best School Year Ever Part 4

So we have talked about goal setting, how to achieve your school goals, and who can help you achieve them. This week I would like to talk about the obstacles that may get in your way for your school goals such as getting better marks/grades.

Some obstacles are:

  • Tough quiz or test
  • Illness
  • Lots of homework
  • Vacations and Holidays
  • It’s harder than you thought it would be
  • You feel like giving up

What is your plan to overcome these and other obstacles. Having a plan of attack ahead of time will help you greatly with overcoming any obstacle that stands before you. Take a few moments to plan out what you can do to beat any obstacles you think you may encounter. Once you have your plan stick to it.

ADULT MESSAGE OF THE WEEK: The Value Of A Smile

cobourg tae kwon do value of a smileThis week’s adult message is; The Value Of A Smile

Never underestimate the true value of a smile. Smiling makes you feel good and others around you. A simple smile has the power to change people’s attitudes and emotions almost instantly. Ever been around someone who is always smiling? Are they always smiling because they are happy or are they happy because they are smiling? Who knows right? But the fact is that they are in a good mood.

You can be in a fowl mood and someone comes up to you and is smiling. What normally happens to your mood? Usually your mood if lifted. You may not be the happiest person at that exact moment but you do feel a little better don’t you? Or how about when you are in a poor mood and you decide to smile, what happens? Once again your mood appear to have been lifted.

Smiles have the super powers of making others feel good. It also makes you feel good. Smiles are one of those things that cannot hurt. No matter what kind of situation you are in, a smile can turn things around. Give it a shot. What’s the worst thing that can happen besides feeling better and making others feel better.

ADULT MESSAGE OF THE WEEK: Make Them Feel Important

cobourg tae kwon do adult message of the week make them feel importantThis week’s adult message is; Make Them Feel Important

Do you like it when someone makes you feel important? Of course you do. Do you try to make others feel important? Well I hope the answer is yes. We all need to feel important and we all should strive to make someone else feel important. Whether that person is a friend, family member, spouse, co-worker, and etc,.

One of the easiest ways to make someone feel important is to show a real interest in them. Ask them questions in order to get to know them or get to know them better. And then listen when they answer your questions. Really appreciate what they are saying. Really pay attention to them on all levels of communication.

Each day take some time out of your daily routine and work on really making someone feel important. Relationships often break down due to the fact that someone feels non important to the other. Make it a goal to make someone feel important every day.

be happy to see themThis week’s adult message is; Be Happy To See Them

This means when you see someone you know, be happy to see them. Doesn’t it feel good when you run into someone you know and they are excited to see you? It sure does. So you should return the favor.

The whole idea is to make everyone feel good and important. If we all were to help one another be in a good mood life would be a little better wouldn’t it?

Last week we discuss polite greetings. So this is a good start when you first see someone followed by a real interest in seeing them.

ADULT MESSAGE OF THE WEEK: Polite Greetings

cobourg tae kwon do polite greetingsThis week’s adult message is; Polite Greetings

It is always a good idea to greet everyone you meet whether you know them or not with a polite greeting.

Why? First it makes for a great first impression if you have not yet met the person. Second it creates a friendly atmosphere.

I don’t know about you but I sure enjoy meeting new people or hanging out with old friends when the atmosphere is calm and friendly. Not a fan of people who bring down the place.

Four simple ways to ensure that you make a polite greeting are;

  1. Make Eye Contact
  2. Smile
  3. Firm Handshake
  4. Speak clearly with friendly intention

I like hanging around people who are cheerful. They don’t have to be all happy and excited all the time but friendly and cheerful. What about you?

ADULT MESSAGE OF THE WEEK: Self Discipline

Cobourg Tae Kwon Do adult message of the week self disciplineThis week’s Adult Message of the Week is: Self Discipline

Having the discipline to do things on your own without being told to do it.

Self Discipline is doing the things you have to do regardless of whether you like them or not.

As adults we have a far greater number of responsibilities compared to children but we as adults have to have the discipline to get everything done that is needed. We have to show the discipline as to set a good example for others to follow.

Self discipline allows us to get the things done that are needed so we can go enjoy the things that make us extra happy.

Self Discipline is the thing that keeps us moving. It allows us to stay strong and fit. It allows us to form good habits.

Self Discipline is a habit that we must practice over and over again.

ADULT MESSAGE OF THE WEEK: Keep Your Emotions In Check

Cobourg Tae Kwon Do adult message of the week keep your emotions in checkThis week’s Adult message of the week is; Keep Your Emotions In Check

There is times when we can allow our emotions to run loose and times when we must control them. There is a balance that we must find within ourselves.

There are times when it is right for us to show our emotions freely and times which we must be conservative with them. Times like being at work we have to be in control and never lash out at others or get too emotionally involved. If you are in a competition and you win it is okay to be extremely happy and excited providing you aren’t a jerk towards the non winning players. It’s okay to be angry at others or yourself as long as you don’t lose control. Use your words to make the situations better not worse.

The balance comes from learning when to let your emotions fly high or soar low. Take each given situation for what it is and go by how others are behaving as well as how you would like to behave and what impressions you want to give others. Think about what is most appropriate for that moment of time and go by that. If you don’t know what is appropriate, watch others who seem to come off with such grace and model yourself after that. And when in doubt, fake it until it becomes real.
