When was the last time you did some random act of kindness or courtesy for someone else with no expectations of anything in return?

Do you remember the last time you were on the receiving end of one? Do you remember how good it felt?

Why not pass along that good feeling to someone else? You know when you do that that person most likely will pass it along too!

Whatever behaviour or attitude you have with someone at any moment could be pass along to many people. So why not pass along a positive and generous attitude?!

Just a friendly reminder that this Monday is Victoria Day so there will be no regular classes except for kettle bells at 8:30am and Black Belt Team Building at 9:30am.

Also long weekends are a chance to relax and recharge your batteries. You do not have to go full tilt all the time. Sometimes it is okay to go lighter somedays and harder on other days. It’s all about finding the right balance for you. Everyone is slightly different but we all need a little rest here and there.

Busy weeks don’t have to be so hard on you.

If you simply take care of one thing at a time everything gets done.

Why is that? Because if you can put all your focus on one thing at a time it gets done quicker and better.

Trying to split your focus on too many things at once is a recipe for things not getting done.

Remember that there is only one you. How can one person do many of things at once? Some can but most cannot.

Use your one self to focus on a single task or two at a time and commit all your focus on getting them completed before moving forward to the next.

There is a lot less stress to be had this way. And I for one like when there is very little stress when it comes to a bunch of things that need to be done.

When you learn to focus on getting one thing done at a time you will soon find that you can get more things done in a shorter time period and you won’t be as “busy” as you thought.

Which style of Martial Arts is the best?

Simply put; the style you train in is the best.

The style you train that suits your needs is the best one for you.

There is really no real best martial arts style out there.

They all have their own unique techniques, strategies, concepts, rules, culture, and etc,.

They all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

In today’s era we live in a relatively safe time compared to the rest of history.

We don’t have mass amounts of countries invading other countries using hand held weapons or engaging in hand to hand combat.

Martial Arts has evolved more into self defense and self preservation.

What I mean about self preservation is that martial arts training helps us improve or maintain good physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health plus teaches us how to physically defend ourselves and our loved ones.

Martial Arts is a way of fitness with a purpose for some and a sport for others. Some few it as a hobby. Others like myself see it as a way of life.

With so many factors and some many different people studying the arts there is bound to be various styles for various people.

Comparing someone’s style to another person’s style is like comparing apples with nuts. Haha you thought I was going to say oranges, yes? Anyway apples and nuts or oranges are two to three completely different things.

One should not concern themselves with what other people are training or who has the best style.

The focus should be on your training in the style you are doing.

If the arts that you are studying and practicing makes you feel good and you are benefitting from it than that is the one for you.

Either you are making progression or you are not making progression.

I look at progression in this fashion. If I am working towards a goal and have a specific date that I want to complete my goal then I make progression from now til the date.

I might make slow progression or I might make fast progression or somewhere in between. If my progression is fast I might complete my goal on time or sooner then expected.

If my progression is slow it might take me longer than I thought to complete my goal. But at least I am progressing.

This is where a lot of people fail at completing goals and progressing. They see progressing slower than they had envision as a bad thing and decide to give up all together.

Well if you quite because of slow progression than you will never complete your goal at all.

Time will pass regardless if you are working towards something or not. You can’t change that. But you can decide to spend the time working towards or goals or not to. Time passes anyway.

Six months from now you can either make some progression or none at all. Time waits for no one.

A step backwards gives you the advantage

Now what do you think this means?

I think it means that when you step back from any given situation you can have a clearer view of what is really going on.

Taking a step back allows you the time you need to think and react in a more controlled manner.

Taking a step back allows you to see from many possible angles.

Stepping back gives you the time to make the best decisions possible with the information and time a lotted.

Taking a step back allows for adjustments in your plans.

Taking a step back is not a bad thing. It’s all about how you view things.

Failure to plan is planning to fail.

If you want to succeed at whatever it is you are doing you need to plan. Failing to plan leaves the doors wide open to many things going not quite the way you would like.

But with you plan you need to be relaxed enough to allow for adjustments. Sometimes plans need to be flexible in order to succeed.

If you fail to plan success may be very limited if not at all. Yes certain things you don’t really need to plan out to succeed but the big things normally do. But allow for changes to be made to your plans when needed. Sometimes sticking to a plan too strictly can cause great failure.

Be prepared and success will come more often and failure will be less and less.
