imagesMakes sense right? Or does it?

What I see this statement as is a warning to prepare yourself for darker days to come or future rough patches. It’s basically self defense in others’ terms.

See self defense is not just about being physically able to defend yourself from a physical attack. That is such an outdate concept. Don’t get me wrong here. It is very important that we know how to defend yourselves and our loved ones from physical harm. However self defense is so much more.

Self Defense can be that you financially prepare for the times when you may not have as much money coming in and you can still pay the bills and live comfortably.

Self Defense can be learning to know your surroundings and knowing who’s in it so you don’t get surprised by an attack.

Self Defense can be being well educated so you have a clearer educated mind to tackle some huge obstacles in your life.

Self Defnese can be eating healthy with quality foods so you prevent certain health problems and diseases.

Self Defense can be staying physically active and fit so you can live a longer more active lifestyle when you retire.

Self Defense can be producing less garbage as to protect and maintain our environment for future generations.

And the list can go on and on. Understand what I mean? You are smart so I know you do.

Good Morning,

Okay so tell me what your last meal looked like. Did it have “foods” from the picture on the left or the picture on the right?

I am hoping you said you had food from the picture on the left because the foods from the picture on the right are not real foods. Yes they are very tasty and look very good with all the bright pretty colours but they are not good for you. They are full of sugars, fats, food colouring, artificial flavouring, salt, sodium, preservatives, and what nots. Foods from the left picture are full of your essential macro nutrients(Carbs, Fats, Proteins) and micro nutrients(Vitamins and Minerals).

Your diet should consist of foods that your great grandparents or your great great grandparents would recognize as foods. I seriously doubt that they would recognize the Lays Potatoes bag all bright and yellow or the signature red and white of the Coca Cola bottles and cans. Or would they be able to pronounce Doritos or Cheestos. Probably not. My spell check doesn’t even recognize them as words. But I can bet you they would recognize the foods from the left picture. There is chicken, peppers, apples, beans, cheese, oranges, potatoes, grapes, coconuts, bananas, and all kinds of other foods along that line. So so many real foods out there to eat and try. And the more colours the better.

Now I am not saying stay completely away from junk foods and treats. You are certainly more then allowed to treat yourself. In fact it is encouraged. Strongly encouraged. Just limit your treats. You can have a treat once every few days or you can leave them to the weekend and have some extra. During special occasions and holidays by all means treat away. Just make sure the you recognize the treats are just treats and not part of your regular healthy diet.

So to some things up, eat foods that your great grandparents would see as foods. Leave the rest for treats. (Don’t forget me during Christmas WINK WINK lol)

Good Morning,

Let’s get right to it today shall we?

Self Defense takes on so many different forms. It is not all about the physical. Self Defnese is not just you defending yourself from a physical attack from someone else. Self Defense can be and is related to your health, fitness, mind, relationships, finances, education, and so forth. But let’s talk about self defense as it pertains to your health. Or further yet let’s talk about food. One way to make sure you are staying healthy and practicing self defense from getting sick and getting diseases is to make sure you eat properly.  I’m gonna put it real simple here. EAT REAL FOODS. You know, the foods that grow from the ground, and comes from animals. Foods that nature provides us. Fruits, vegetables, plants, herbs, meat, and water. Well water is not food but you get the point. Real foods. ANy food that has to be manufactured in a factory is not considered real foods. A few examples are chips, twinkies, chocolate bars, candy, and etc., You want to help reduce the changes of future health problems, try eating whole real foods more often. Don’t become obsessed with it right away. Make some changes in your nutrition planning. Small changes over time build up to huge results.

It’s a ZEN message foryou to think about today.

“When you are deluded and full of doubt, even a thousand books of scripture are not enough. When you have realized understanding, even one word is too much.”

That’s all for today folks,
