We can shape our lives but it is what we allow in our lives that matter. We have the power to allow whatever we want in and discard what we don’t.

The pot is your life, how are you going to shape it and what are you going to put in it?

WHEN MOVED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OTHERS – ZEN

” When moved to complain about others, remember that karma is endless and it’s loving that leads to love. “

Basically you get what you put out. We all know at least one person in our lives that all they do is complain and try to bring other people down. What do they get out of it? Negativity towards them because they are negative. Then we all know a bunch of people that are loving and caring. What do they get out of it. Positivity and love. So what are you going to be putting out?

IF MY HEART CAN BECOME PURE – ZEN

” If my heart can become pure and simple like that of a child, I think there probably can be no greater happiness than this. “

Life would be so much more beautiful if we all could do this. But egos and ambitions get in the way. We grow older and are taught the opposites of being a child.

EVERY DAY IS A GOOD DAY – ZEN

” Every day is a good day. “

Every day that we are alive is a good day. Yes granted there might be “bad” things that happen but every day is still a good day. It’s all in how you look at it. Don’t allow bad or negative parts of a day completely define your day. Seek out the positives and keep your focus on them.

DO NOT SEEK TO FOLLOW – ZEN

” Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the men of old; seek what they sought. Zen is your everyday thought. “

One must have their own path or journey. They can have the same final destination but different paths. Each days thoughts must be focused.

ZEN HAS NOTHING TO GRAB ON TO – ZEN

” Zen has nothing to grab on to. When people who study Zen don’t see it, that is because they approach too eagerly. “

Basically sometimes we can be so eager to find something that we overlook the obvious. Other times we have such narrow vision on one thing we miss out on what we should be really looking at. Don’t approach too eagerly. Approach with calmness and openness.

WHEN THE DAY GETS LONG – ZEN

” When the day gets long and contentious, I hold fast to my breath as a tiller and take each wave as it comes. “

This refers to patience. Throughout each day we are all tested with lots of contentious situations. Best to stay calm as best we can and approach each situation with a clear mind. This takes practice. And some circumstances are harder to stay calm than others but it is worth a shot. Keep practicing.

ABOVE ALL, DON’T WOBBLE – ZEN

” In walking, just walk. In sitting, just sit. Above all, don’t wobble. “

This seems simple enough. Basically be in the present moment and just do what you are doing. You will wobble when you are doing one thing and your focus os on something else. Mainly the past or future. Focus on the now.

Now that’s a practice that takes practice.
