GET YOUR REST

Good Morning

Hope everyone had a good long weekend and got all rested up. Hope everyone also had a good night’s sleep because you shoulder never under estimate the power of a good sleep.

We all need to get a good amount of quality sleep to maintain our good health as well as to function in a cheerful way each and every day. We require a certain amount of sleep each night. You always hear about eight hours a night. That is not really the case. You actually need to pay attention to your sleep cycles. Each sleep cycle is 90 minutes in length. So you need to time your sleep so you actually get 7.5 hours or 9 hours of sleep. Not eight hours of sleep because it will disturb your last sleep cycle and make you feel more tired when you wait up on the morning.

Just having rest time each day and each week is very important. Your mind and body can only take so much before it starts to burn out. I myself am known for being a person who puts in 14 hour work days for 5 days a week plus works Saturdays and Sundays during the bust seasons here at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do. I do not mind one bit but I do enjoy the rest times. The long weekends where I do nothing and just enjoy relaxing. When I do not get a chance to do this I feel tired and short tempered sometimes. This is when I know I have to take a few days to rest or I could risk burning out. This can happen to anyone and it happens all the time to a lot of people.

Being too busy is not a good thing. You need to take the time to rest. Your body needs it but more importantly your mind needs it. Schedule down time during the day so you can get a few minutes here and there to rest up. Make sure you are getting enough sleep at night. Make sure you get chance to relax on the weekends and during the holidays. There needs to be a balance between work and rest. Find your balance.
